I moved to Firefox 3 and so can you

I’ve been trying the newest Firefox betas for some time and I love its incredible speed and cleaner looks, but not having my extensions with me because they were incompatible with FF3 was a showstopper for me. Now however I have found a workaround:

extensions.checkCompatibility

With this value set to true in the about:config screen you can use extensions on FF3 that have not yet been enabled like the awesome Gmail Manager, All in one Sidebar and Download Statusbar. Be careful though that these have not been tested and you’ll probably run into some problems (like I did with FireBug).
If I conviced you to try Firefox 3 then there’s a super easy way to install it with one command:

wget -P ~ ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/3.0b3/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-3.0b3.tar.bz2 && tar xjf ~/firefox-3.0b3.tar.bz2 -C ~

    I was trying it. Seems to have some kind of a bug with logins. First it lost all of mine. Which I could understand with moving to a fresh browser. But it kept losing them all no matter how many times I told it not to delete cookies and etc. It would lose my logins and passwords in the same one hour time period when I went back to a site. So I dumped it and went back to FF2.

    I tried FF3 again this week. Still login problems. This time it would not let me make card drops on EC. My login was there, I could accept or make ads for sites in the dashboard. But I could not drop any cards cause it showed me as not being registered with EC.

    So as much as I like FF. I am hoping they get the bugs out of it. I am still having logins being deleted with FF2. Wish I had some idea how to fix that. It was fine, kept all my logins, for ages now it is aggravating to re-login almost everywhere, every day.

    hi,
    I installed my FF3 on my laptop. Yup, it is faster browsing since no adds on or plugin yet. Will it perform the same way when all the plugin/add on are compatible ?

    But it still beta rite, mm when will it be fully update?

    Firefox 3 is fantastic!
    Much faster script-handling and some memory optimizations, to boot.

    Firefox 2.x seems to suffer from a memory leak, which has been fixed in the latest beta of 3. It also looks like it is as fast (if not faster) than Opera in rendering pages. It really is an impressive piece of software, I’m a huge fan!

    I am very patient when it comes to using the latest updated software. My bad experience in many beta softwares made me decide to wait until they have a stable release.
