Akismet lost performance?

I’m really happy how Akismet worked in the past, it protected me from nearly 100’000 spam messages, but lately I noticed that a lot of blatant spam messages (3 words, one link) get through. Am I the only one that noticed this? It’s getting pretty tedious having to delete spam comments every 5 minutes.

It’s not just you: I’ve been deleting stuff all day, too. I sent them a support message on their site: hope they get it fixed soon.

I would suggest using Defensio than Akismet

I’ve noticed a lot of blatant spam trackbacks have been sneaking through. I always check once a day and click the “Recheck Queue for Spam”. That gets rid of half usually.

Me too! some spams are getting through Akisment. Previously, I was only getting 1 to almost none. If this continues, I might find another anti spam tool.

I’ve a similar dilemma before. However I found out recently that Akismet is still effective in eliminating spam. I have posted about this in my blog.

It will work by deactivating Akismet (DO NOT delete it from your plugin’s directory) and installing matriphe keycode plugin.

I’ve been enjoying a spam free wordpress installation using these two plugins.

I use Spamfree and STBV together with Akismet and it’s really doing the job. I hate captchas! :)

Akismet seem to be letting some spam through these days, it seems a little bit tricky since the default settings for Akismet does not allow any comment with more than two links. I think I’ll have to restrict it to 1 link per comment or none if its necessary.

I’ve been using Akismet for a long time now. Lately even I’ve had to deal with a lot of leaked messages. I hope they can sort it out soon!
